Rainy day special #1
I once promised intermittent bonus content, so here’s how it goes. When it rains, it pours, and a bonus post will be yours. So let’s get the show rolling, shall we?
When I’m stuck at school between classes, I like to head down to the computer lab in the Johnson building. It’s nice to sit down, sign in, and check up on webcomics, blogs, sports news, and even the occasional manga update. The only problem is that the people who work in the lab are allowed to stream their own musical selections over the airwaves. Last year, it was okay since the guy working there had some pretty eclectic tastes. Though I wouldn’t play it to set the mood, you can’t really go wrong with Sigur Ros. This year? Well, okay, I don’t normally like to question people’s musical preferences, but sheesh. There’s too much electric guitar. Too much pop-punk. Too much alt-rock. I really wish the dude would come up with a more varied playlist. The occasional Keane ditty isn’t doing it for me, jack. Give me some variety! Play something energetic with a nice kick to it. If I ran the place, I’d mix it up a bit, you know? I’d have everything from indie rock to hip hop instraz. I’d roll with jazzy jazz, rockin’ rock, and top it off some trippin’ trip hop. Listening to all that alt-rock is depressing, man. If you’re gonna be blue, stick to the blues! There aren’t any toe-tapping beats in Nickelback tracks! I wonder though, what would you people play? Don’t try and get all fancy on me, just gimme a sample playlist!
Oh man, yesterday I took a 4 hour nap in the afternoon and went to bed around 10:30, so I ended up waking up at 3:45 fully awake and ready to go. What a weird feeling, lemme tell you. I signed on and said good morning to my friend in Cali, and he was like “Dude, it’s 1:45 AM. What are you talking about?” I also saw Dan online, but he wasn’t very responsive at that hour. Night owls are such a hoot! I eventually decided to go back to bed though, for fear of screwing up my circadian rhythm. All told, I slept 15 hours in a 20 hour period, and I actually feel pretty good. Remember to get enough sleep, boys and girls! I know it can be tough when you’re in college, but it’ll help you out immensely.
One final note before I wrap this sucker up. It seems like the warm months are coming to an end at last. I can’t wait to pull out the cold-weather clothes and restock my supply of chapstick! Also, hopefully, girls will stop donning their unflattering revealing outfits in favour of some more stylish fare. Let’s give a warm welcome to the chilly air of winter! Oh, and do extend the same greeting to our new blogger, Miss Winter herself — Leelee – who is, by all accounts, as pure as the winter snow.
Enjoy the rain, the cold, and the same old same old. Tune in next time!
