In Which I Talk About Cartoons From Japan While Listening To Katamari Music
Why hello, friends! Today I will be discussing cartoons. Specifically, cartoons from Japan! What is Japan, you ask? What a good question! You will be able to find Japan off the coast of the Asian continent.
Japan is an archipelago! What is an archipelago? Well it’s very simple: An archipelago is a chain of cartoons. As some of you may know, Japan is literally made of cartoons. Why do we know this? Because Japan is really good at covering up how badly its economy is failing! But that’s not what I’m here to talk about.
TENGEN TOPPA GURREN LAGANN
One of the reasons why I’m making this post is due a fantastic series called Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann concluding this past weekend. Gurren Lagann is a revival of the super robot genre, shared by the likes of such classics as GaoGaiGar, produced by GAINAX. This is notable since GAINAX is the studio which produced the infamous (or famous, but I can’t imagine why) Neon Genesis Evangelion (or Shin Seki Evangelion in their fruity moon language), and Gurren Lagann seems to be the mecha anime that serves as a complete antithesis to Evangelion. Anyway, as I understand it, GAINAX hate is still prevalent in Japan, hate which came from the latter parts of Evangelion. The result is that Gurren Lagann, like many other series, seems to be more popular outside of Japan than within.
Anyway, forget about all of that junk for now, because this is what those unfamiliar with the series should know: Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is the definition of burning spirit. It’s completely ridiculous and over the top, a wild ride from beginning to end. The story and such aren’t very original in the slightest, but that’s not what you watch the series for anyway. Gurren Lagann is pure entertainment. I love this cartoon.

To counteract the awesomeness that is GL, they had to rebuild eva. If they hadn’t done so, the universe probably would have exploded.
